The history of earth is primarily divided into 3 eras – Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic. Before the paleozoic era, the archean and the proterozoic eras where majorly single and multicellular microscopic organisms existed. There was an event called great oxidation event arount 2.4 billion years ago which gave rise to multicellular organisms.

- Paleo – zoic
- Meso – zoic
- Ceno – zoic
